First Policy Response is bringing together the Canadian policy community — including researchers, policy-makers and practitioners — to highlight the best policy ideas to address the economic and social crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for a more sustainable and equitable recovery. As part of that, we publish commentary and analysis about all aspects of Canadian COVID-19 response and recovery policy, with a focus on economic and social policy. We are interested in pieces that offer informed discussion and fresh ideas from an array of perspectives and ideological backgrounds, and with actionable ideas that institutions can start to implement.

We accept submissions on an ongoing basis. Although we primarily accept written pieces, we will also consider alternative formats such as infographics or video.

Contributors Fund for writers fromunder-represented groups

First Policy Response has created a fund to better enable pitches and submissions from people from groups that are too often under-represented in public policy debates and decision-making. Our priorities for this fund are Black and Indigenous contributors. The fund will also support writers and contributors from other under-represented groups, including but not limited to people of colour, people with disabilities, youth and unemployed people, low-wage earners and front-line workers.

The Contributors Fund has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the McConnell Foundation.
